Weld-on lifting points are heavy-duty, permanent structural anchors designed to provide secure connection blocks for rigging equipment like chains, shackles, and crane hooks. They are widely used across mining, construction, transport, and manufacturing applications to establish temporary or permanent rigging points on heavy machinery, structural beams, excavator buckets, and spreader bars.

Key Selection & Safety Standards
When dealing with structural lifting points, adherence to Australian and international safety standards is paramount:
  • Working Load Limit (WLL): Always select a lifting point rated higher than your maximum intended load weight. Ensure the rating is clearly marked on the unit.
  • Material Compatibility: Most high-grade lifting points are forged from Grade 80 alloy steel and must be welded exclusively onto compatible carbon steel surfaces.
  • Substrate Capability: Ensure that the substrate onto which they are welded is also capable of bearing the weight.
  • Pre-Use Inspection: Always look for flaws before rigging. There should be no cracks, nicks, corrosion or distortion on the weld on lifting lugs
Comparison of Common Rigging Grades
Grade Breaking Stress Common Applications Key Features
G30 / G40 300–400 N/mm² General utility, towing, anchoring Low carbon steel, never use for overhead lifting.
G70 700 N/mm² Transport tie-downs, log binding High-strength carbon steel, distinctly gold/zinc plated, never use for overhead lifting.
G80 800 N/mm² Overhead crane lifting, heavy rigging Alloy steel, highly durable, standard for industrial lifting components.
G100 1,000 N/mm² Premium overhead lifting, mining Up to 25% higher Working Load Limit (WLL) than G80 for the same size.
G120 1,200 N/mm² Ultra-heavy industrial lifting Maximum strength, distinct square profile links for high wear resistance.
